PureONE is the cheapest insurance available for your car today. Does it make sense to spend hundreds, or thousands, of dollars on automobile insurance each year, and then turn around and save a buck or two by purchasing an oil filter with less quality? PureONE features exclusive Micronic Filtration media that traps even the smallest particles of dirt and grime before they get to your engine - particles too small for conventional filters to catch. Which is why PureONE is the top ranked filter in SAE tests at keeping your oil pure - and why no other filter provides better protection for your engine.

I cut open filters that fit the same car from Fram (Tough Guard)' Mobil 1, and this Pure 1 filter. You cannot tell what size particles are captured by the media this way (Mobil 1 and Pure 1 claim synthetic media), but you can count pleets. The Pure 1 had nearly twice as many, and the bypass and general construction seems to be better also. And the Pure 1 costs about half of what the Mobil 1 filter costs.

The people who have done "extensive research" should take a look at the Purolator site ! These are HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED for motorcycles. they have black motorcycle filters at just as great a value and they wont harm your motorcycle oil pump like the purolator gold will. (Great filter for autos) Try these instead !! Purolator ML16817 Black Motorcycle Oil Filter (Pack of 2) or Purolator ML16818 Black Motorcycle Oil Filter (Pack of 2) by Purolator

I grabbed this at a local AutoZone (ordered backups just now from Amazon, but needed the job done, today). The extra length + textured grip will make my next change that much easier as I'll just reach up and twist it out and my wrenches won't get covered in spent oil. Clearance is not an issue on most bikes as the difference in length from stock is negligible, but *just* enough to grab without fiddling with a filter wrench. Your pipes or belly pan/fairing hang significantly lower than this filter will. Removing the filter by hand will also mean an overall less messy oil change.
Add to that the myriad of great reviews, this price, and Amazon reliability...it's a no-brainer. It's not so much that dealer filters are a rip-off (though they are); it's that this is just a superior filter to most paper-media stock options. Plus, you save a trip to the dealer.
CHANGE YOUR CRUSH WASHERS EVERY TIME, lol. Not sure why some of you folks still skip that after having gone through the mess of changing your own fluids.

I cut all my old filters open because I'm a nerd about these things. I really like these filters. There isn't much difference from the classics other than a better antidrainback valve and a little more media. These are definitely comparable to Royal Purple/Mobil 1 and the exact same filter as a Bosch. With the exception of the Wix/Napa/CarQuest which are all the same and a great filter for the price, this is all I would consider.

One of the better filters out there. Never had an issue with any Purolator oil filter.
